Located in the county of Constanța, the town of Murfatlar is a leading wine region of Romania, in no small part thanks to its inherent advantages, namely coastal location and temperate climate. Producing wine since Roman times, Murfatlar was mentioned in some of the epic poet Ovid’swritings. Upholding Romanian heritage, Murfatlar persists in cultivating the country’s indigenous varieties such as Fetească Neagră (literally: blackmaiden), as well as its white sisters Fetească Albă (literally: white maiden)and Fetească Regală (literally: royal maiden).
